Waterproofing

In our experience, waterproofing is one of the primary points of failure on most buildings. We would estimate that 80% of building remediation that we carry out is due to poor waterproofing practices.

It’s important to note that not all waterproofing membranes are equal. There are many different types of waterproofing membranes and they all have their own advantages in different applications. There are also some that we do not recommend at all.

Understanding the different types of applications, and more importantly the surface preparation required prior to the application of these membranes, is extremely important.

Surface preparation is one of the most vital aspect of membrane application. If the preparation isn't sufficient the membranes become contaminated and start to delaminate. If there are tiles or gardens on top of these membranes, the problem can become very expensive to correct if the membrane fails.

We encounter these issues on a daily basis so have a strong understanding of the need to get the waterproofing right the first time.

Waterproofing is not just about painting a membrane on a piece of concrete. The real magic happens in the preparation. Many of the jobs we fix are a result of failed membranes due to incorrect preparation, or knowing which membrane is the most appropriate to use. We have developed the best systems after years of working on countless buildings suffering leaks.
